JAPAN | EFFECTIVE DESIGN

A good example of very effective design.

Japanese firm – To-Genkyo – has designed a new product label, which makes it extremely easy to tell if a product is fresh or not.

The hourglass shaped sticker/label contains a special ink that changes color based on the amount of ammonia emitted by the meat. Obviously, the older the meat, the more ammonia it releases, the darker the label gets at the bottom. If you’ll notice, the bar code is at the bottom of the hour glass, so once the meat is old, the bar code gets covered in ink and thus it cannot be scanned – meaning it cannot be sold.

Pretty Innovative. & Simple.

JAPAN | WONDER BRA or HUNTING BRA?

hunting bra

Another innovative (or weird?)  product from Japan.

Lingerie maker, Triumph International, has created the “Konkatsu Bra,” meaning “marriage-hunting” bra.

It features a countdown clock showing the marriage deadline (set by the wearer) and when an engagement ring is inserted between the cups, “The Wedding March” plays out of a small speaker. The characters on the bra read, “now hunting for a husband.”

Weird or what?

JAPAN | CHOCOLATE BEER?

Chocolate_beer

Yuk? or Yum?

This is one strange (or not so strange) collaboration. Sapporo Breweries and Royce Chocolate collaborate on Chocolate Brewery  – to create Chocolate Beer. Is this “innovation” gone mad? Or some true market need?

Whatever it is, can’t wait to get my hands on one of these.
